de dikke molen

Alphen a/d Rijn

With strict rules of preservation the stone walls (standing work, non-technical section) has been restored in 2000.  A beautiful house is built in the mill and the wooden structure of the old mill has been restored. The house is totally in style, with all the modern amenities such as underfloor heating and a kitchen with modern appliances. All windows are double glazed.

Next step was making the mill grind. In the summer of 2011, preparations were made for large recovery. On October 13, 2011 the rods were lowered, removed the tail and lifted the hood of the mill. Due to the enormous weight had the upper shaft first be removed before the cap could be lifted (greater crane could not reach the mill) The mill has a new metal auger, with which he can grind water from the polder.

An experienced miller of Putmolen of Aarlanderveen keeps  "the Fat mill"to in good condition by letting it work so every now and then.
